Wes Welker
Continued
"The Patriots are so proactive these days that they are now replacing
guys BEFORE they leave," Gerry Callahan of the Boston Herald
once wrote. "Good old Troy Brown hasn't decided to retire yet,
and the Patriots already have acquired Wes Welker, also known as a
young Troy Brown."
It's easy to see how
that makes sense. Welker has always done everything asked of him,
and has combined versatility with his determination. With Miami, he
once stood in for the team's injured kicker, and in that game, he
returned a kickoff and a punt, made a tackle, and kicked an extra
point and a field goal - becoming just the second player in NFL history
to do all of those things in the same game.
A native of Oklahoma
City, the 25-year-old Welker has a college degree in management and
enjoys golfing and hunting in the offseason.
